Welcoming new faces & new leadership
Our August meeting was aimed at taking care of business for our new league year. Three guests were in attendance, and we officially welcomed three new members: (pictured from left to right) Jamie Nau, owner of Grow Nau Consulting; Hollie Boznak with USA Insulation; and Kristy Owens with USA Insulation.
After 11 students completed applications for the Stephen Bufton Memorial Educational Fund, our scholarship recipient was officially awarded her $2,000 scholarship. Bailey Cook (pictured left), a 2021 graduate of Leo High School, will be attending Saint Francis University in the Fall as a Freshman, studying nursing. Bailey said she was inspired to become a nurse because of her grandmother who suffered from dementia. We wish Bailey the best of luck in her college journey.
Board members who will serve for the 2021-2022 league year were officially installed with a NASA flair. Women of Magnitude members Michelle Crone and Shirley New led the installation comparing each board role to that which may or may not be a position held by a NASA astronaut. Each board member received a certificate and a box of Moon Pies after agreeing to the terms of their board positions by shouting, "Blast Off!" Much appreciation was offered to outgoing board members Michelle Crone, Angela Rose and Heather Lytle.
